Gujarat records 687 Covid cases, tally set to cross 35,000

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat recorded yet another high of 687 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Friday, taking the tally to 34,686. The state also recorded 18 deaths of Covid-19 patients, pushing the death toll to 1,906.
Surat, which recorded higher daily cases than Ahmedabad in two out of the past three days, equalled the number on Friday with 204. Vadodara recorded 62 while Junagadh recorded 26 new cases. The deaths included 10 from Ahmedabad, five from Surat, two from Kheda and one from Panchmahal.
Gujarat crossed the 1,900 deaths mark, becoming the third state after Maharashtra and Delhi in India to do so. Analysis of the deaths reveal that Gujarat recorded 100 deaths every three days in the beginning of June - which slowed down to four days by June 19. Past 100 deaths took five days, signifying slowing down of deaths.
