A new plan is being prepared to ensure smooth movement of passenger tourist vehicles in the country. Under this, any tourist passenger operator can apply online for All India Tourism Permit.


The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification for amendment in the national permit system under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 to promote tourism across the country.

The ministry said in a statement, "After successful operation of goods transport vehicles under the national permit system, steps are now being taken for smooth movement of tourist passenger vehicles.

" The All India Tourism Vehicle Charter and Permit Rules, 2020 will be called "The Ministry has sought opinion from the people and other parties in this regard".

Under the new scheme, any tourist vehicle operator can apply for the All India Tourism Rights Permit through online. All the authority letters will be issued within 30 days of the submission of the relevant documents and fees as per the rules.

According to the statement, this permit will be valid in three months or in multiples thereof. Its total duration shall not exceed three years at a time. This provision is included keeping in mind the areas in the country where the tourism season is limited as well as the operators whose financial capacity is limited.
