NOIDA: The about 200-bed
L2 Covid hospital developed by
Tata Project Limited (TPL) at the
new district hospital building in Sector 39 will now be ramped up to 400 beds with additional 200 beds as L1 facility for influenza like illness (ILI) symptomatic patients as well.
The additions are aimed to address the rising number of Covid patients, and are expected to be completed in a month’s time while the current L2 beds are ready for use. The health department is working on manpower–staff deployment before it can begin operation there.
“About 200 L2 beds at Sector 39 new district hospital building is almost ready. But we want to ramp it up to 400 beds, where half the beds (200) will be used for the L1 facility. Both the government and Tata group have had an agreement on this,” Suhas LY district magistrate GB Nagar told TOI.
The DM further added that while the chief medical officer (CMO) and medical superintendent (MS) are working to identify and depute the number of manpower for the L1, L2 facility, the administration hopes to have it functional soon.
The hospital was initially built with 168 bed L2 (moderate serious) facilities and was to begin operations from June end. But it isn’t clear yet whether the administration plans to wait for the additional 200 beds of L1 capacity to be ready first, or begin part operations with the ready 168 L2 beds.
Meanwhile, Ravishankar Chandrasekaran, vice president and SBU head (Urban Built Form), Tata Projects Ltd told TOI that the GB Nagar administration has asked TPL to Increase the bed count from 180 to 400. The project overseen by
Tata Trust is awaiting a formal communication on the agreement.
“We have already completed work on the 168 bed L2 facility at the Sector 39 district hospital in Noida and are ready to handover. Now we will undertake additional 200 bed work on the 3rd and 4th floor of the hospital to be developed into an L1 facility,” said Chandrasekaran.
According to Chandrasekaran the additional facility will come equipped with about 200-220 beds, two mobile X-rays and one mobile ultrasound machine. “While in phase 1, about 200 beds are ready and can be used immediately, for the remaining 200 beds we will need a minimum one month to complete work,” said Chandrasekaran.
Once ready, the hospital will have both fever, flu and symptomatic ILI patients as well as moderately serious L2 Covid patients. This will be the second L1 facility developed by TPL as a similar, ILI L1 facility is already completed by the group at
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Lucerna Tower building in Sector 125, Noida.
