Actor Sayaji Shinde’s green initiative on Ashadhi Ekadashi

Sayaji Shinde and Arvind Jagtap started a movement to celebrate this year’s Ashadhi Wari in a unique way 

Rahata: Sayaji Shinde, film actor and founder of Sahyadri Devrai Abhiyan and film writer Arvind Jagtap started a movement to celebrate this year’s Ashadhi Wari in a unique way across the state. Against the backdrop of COVID-19 outbreak, the iconic Ashadhi Wari, one of the oldest tradition was cancelled first time in hundreds of years.

Thus, Sahyadri Devrai association has started a green Wari. In this, Warkaris can start a Green Wari as trees teach us about the nature of God. One can click the selfie with the nearby tree and send it to the Sahyadri Devrai family. This initiative has garnered a huge response from the state. All photographs which are been sent in the initiative will be collected and a ceremony for the same will take place soon.

Ashadhi Ekadashi which was marked on Wednesday, Shinde had come to Pemgiri village in Sangamner taluka of Ahmednagar district to worship largest banyan tree in Maharashtra. Along with him, the novelist Prof Ranganath Pathare, writer Arvind Jagtap, Zilla Parishad Member Sitaram Raut, Pemgiri Sarpanch Somnath Godse, Umesh Bache, Archana Vanapatre, Sharad Gir and more were present. Shinde said that Devrai is looking for old trees in every district of the state because trees are real celebrities.
