MADURAI: As educational institutions are increasingly shifting to digital learning and teaching, Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) is conducting a one-week online faculty development programme on ‘Academic excellence in digital teaching and learning.’ The programme that began on July 1 will end on July 7.
As many as 250 faculty members from different universities and colleges are participating in the programme being conducted by department of management studies, directorate of distance education, MKU.
The online programme is an effort to evaluate and encourage discussions on how digital methods might enhance teaching and learning practices and cater to the different learning needs of faculty.
MKU vice-chancellor Dr M Krishnan said, “Such faculty development programmes are essential during a pandemic situation like this and will help faculty to engage with experts’ lectures.”
He expressed concerns over reaching out to students from poor economic background, who reside in villages around MKU, as they have no access to proper internet facilities.
As part of webinar sessions, various topics on approaches to digital classrooms and online teaching are addressed.
