A young girl is among two people dead after a helicopter crash in Broome on Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred in the suburb of Bilingurr, near Broome Airport, just after 2.30pm.

Emergency crews rescued at least four people from the wreckage, including an adult and two children, however another adult died as a result of their injuries.

Police later confirmed a young girl, believed to be 11 years old, also died as a result of injuries she received in the crash.

An adult and child remain in hospital, each in a critical condition.

Police, St John Ambulance and Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called to the scene.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are not yet known.
