LUCKNOW: With maximum number of
Covid-19 cases in a single day, the pandemic tally for Uttar Pradesh breached the 26,000 mark on Friday. As many as 982 positive cases were reported in the state in 24 hours.
"The total number of recoveries reached 17,557 as 376 persons were discharged from hospitals, while 14 deaths took the Covid-19 toll to 749. This left the state with 7,451 active cases," said additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad. He stated that the number of cases was bound to increase with the number of tests per day creating new records. "Over 27,000 tests were conducted in the state in 24 hours, while the total number of samples tested reached 8,10,991," he said.
Prasad said that the CM helpline was back on the surveillance job. "The CM helpline is also tracking alerts generated by the Aarogya Setu app in addition to the state department's dedicated helpline. Over 6,000 calls were made by the CM helpline," he said and added that over 8,000 Covid desks have been set up by the state health, medical education, home, revenue, panchayati raj, industries and agriculture departments.
The Meerut division recorded 320 cases which is also 32.5% of the total cases reported in the state. The list included Ghaziabad (140), Gautam Budh Nagar (96), Bulandshahr (29), Baghpat (27), Meerut (24) and Hapur(4).
As per a health bulletin, Agra, Kanpur and Ghaziabad recorded two deaths each, while one death each was reported from Meerut, Gautam Budh Nagar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Jhansi, Mainpuri and Chandauli.
Besides, 10 districts recorded over 20 cases. These included Lucknow (70), Kanpur (44), Varanasi (34), Barabanki (32), Moradabad (28), Aligarh (24), Agra (23), Prayagraj (23), Mirzapur (21) and Aligarh (21). The other districts with double digit entries are Saharanpur (18), Gorakhpur (18), Bareilly (14), Ballia (14), Kushinagar (14), Etawah (13), Deoria (13), Jhansi (13), Budaun (12), Unnao (11), Mau (11), Ayodhya (11) and Muzaffarnagar (11).
Prasad also said that a campaign has been launched to collect interesting ideas on Covid prevention from the public. "People can send in videos and 150 word write-ups on our WhatsApp number 8005192995 or email them to 1min4covid@gmail.com . The last date for sending entries is July 8, while the award-winning entries will be declared on July 15," he stated.
