There was a cyberattack on the server of the Indian Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Sunday. NHAI's servers, emails, and phones were targeted in this attack. Now some of the stolen information has been made public by the attackers. The attackers have posted details of some files on the Internet.
Ransomware operators claim only 5 percent of the total amount of data copied and encrypted by them has been leaked. The attackers have leaked data related to the former NHAI president and a former senior official, claiming that the folder belonging to the former NHAI chief contains other information including his passport, bank details, travel, and investment details.
Similarly, other former officer's zip file contains his personal details, financial records of companies, and tax records. In response to the questions asked about data loss and whether they got any indication from the attackers, NHAI said, NHAI has the best security systems, network access control, firewalls, IPS and software-defined networks, etc.
Explain that due to this cyberattack on Sunday, the authority's computer and phone were closed for about 24 hours. The government is tracking the people involved in this attack. CERT-In had already stated that there could be a large scale cyber attack in India.
An attempt was made to steal the data and information of NHAI in the cyber attack. Who has caused this virus attack and what has caused it, it is being ascertained. All systems were shutdown until Monday evening. The authority had also informed NIC about this.
