Coronavirus: Trichy Corporation expands random testing

Random screening camp being held at Anna Nagar uzhavar sandhai in Trichy
TRICHY: A day after three vegetable traders tested positive for Covid-19 during a mass screening conducted at EB road temporary vegetable market, the Trichy Corporation on Saturday expanded the random sampling at vulnerable spots.
Around 183 samples were collected from vegetable traders in Anna Nagar’s uzhavar sandhai at Thennur on Saturday.
The uzhavar sandhai caters to hundreds of people in and around Thillai Nagar, Thennur and Cantonment localities.
Another suspected hotspot in Mela Ambikapuram, where a frontline professional tested positive earlier, was also covered under the mass screening.
As many as 40 samples were collected from the frontline worker’s locality. The results of these random testing will be declared on Monday.
A corporation official said this random testing would be conducted at vulnerable spots in all parts of the city.
