A man is fighting for life and another one is in hospital following an incident outside a Northbridge nightclub overnight.

Around 4.40am police were called to Paramount Nightclub on James Street following reports of a violent altercation outside the premisses.

Police said a nightclub worker aged in his 40s received life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Another man in his 20s was also injured and taken to hospital.

Police remain at the scene as officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
