NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old woman was shot dead by her son allegedly after she delayed serving him dinner in a colony in Bawana Industrial Area on Friday.
Police said that the accused, Suraj (26), was heavily drunk at the time of the incident and has been arrested along with the illegal weapon.
Early on Friday, Suraj returned home drunk and asked his mother Bala Devi to serve him dinner. Bala Devi allegedly refused to do so and asked him to get sober first, which led to an argument between them.
Some time later she served him food, but Suraj again started arguing with her and shot her in a fit of rage. Hearing the gunshots, neighbours rushed to their house and caught Suraj. They thrashed him before handing him over to police. Cops said Suraj worked in a factory and had got the pistol from someone known to him. Bala Devi’s body was sent for an autopsy and Suraj will be allowed to cremate her before being sent to judicial custody.
