Covid patient escapes from KIMS

Hubballi: A man who was arrested on charges of theft by Hubballi-Dharwad suburban police last Tuesday subsequently tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He was admitted to the designated Covid hospital, Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences.
However, he has now escaped from KIMS triggering panic among the residents of Hubballi. KIMS medical superintendent Dr Arun Kumar C confirmed to TOU that the patient had left the isolated ward around 5am. “Footage from the closed circuit television cameras shows that he was wandering outside the isolated ward around 5am on Friday. We have filed a police complaint,” he added.
Cops attached to the Vidyanagar police station have launched a hunt for the patient in question.
There were reportedly two constables stationed at the isolated ward. Sources said that the patient managed to give them the slip and escaped. In fact, one of the constables who had come in contact with the patient had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday.
