District and additional sessions judge S S Tambe sentenced Rinku Jalansigh Thakur, a native of Katni in Madhya Pradesh, to life imprisonment and an order to this effect was passed on Thursday.
According to additional public prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar, the accused worked at a stable in a dairy farm in Bhiwandi, where the victim Badri Patel (45) was employed as a watchman.
The accused and the victim would quarrelled frequently over money matters and in September 2013, the accused attacked the victim with a sickle, killing him on the spot, she informed the court.
The accused then confessed about the crime to his employer and was arrested, the APP said.
The court relied on deposition of workers of the dairy farm to convict and sentence the accused.
