HYDERABAD:
Telangana Congress treasurer
Gudur Narayana Reddy on Friday strongly condemned health minister Eatela Rajender for not responding to his request to frame guidelines for plasma donation.
Gudur Narayana Reddy who has been discharged from the hospital after recovering from coronavirus, has not only offered to donate his plasma but also to form a Plasma Donors' Association.
"Neither chief minister
Chandrasekhar Rao nor Health Minister Rajender seems to be interested in saving people who are dying due to Covid-19 infection. Any responsible government will try to save the lives of citizens. But the TRS government has remained non-responsive to a good suggestion made by us which could save thousands of lives," he said.
The Congress leader said many states in the country including Maharashtra have been promoting plasma therapy on a larger scale. Since he himself has recovered from Covid-19, he has been trying to help other patients.
"Except for the guidelines on plasma therapy, I am not expecting anything more from the government. I will take care of all the expenses through my NGO to create awareness and mobilise potential plasma donors. The state government can select the recipients and help us save thousands of lives," he said.
The Congress leader asked CM KCR and health minister to stop treating Telangana as their "father's jagir" (personal fiefdom). The state government has failed to control the spread of coronavirus in Telangana especially in Greater Hyderabad.
“The situation has turned so worse that many people are temporarily leaving the city to safer destinations. This migration trend may create problems in villages through untested
covid-19 patients as they would be spreading the virus unintentionally. Though nearly 98% of the villages are free from coronavirus, the conditions will deteriorate if immediate action is not taken, he said.
The chief minister should clarify whether the government proposes to impose another lockdown, and should consult all stake holders before imposing lockdown.
