BENGALURU: Amid complaints about schools increasing fees, a preschool in Bengaluru has decided to refund fees for children below five years until clarity emerges on resumption of classes
Head Start Montessori House of Children’s Koramangala and Whitefield branches have asked parents to share bank details to start the fee-refund process. “Depending on when school is able to resume operations, we will get back to you as to what fees will be payable for the remaining part of the year. This will be intimated to you two weeks prior to the reporting date and you will be required to pay that part of the fee,” said the email.
Sources said the fee for 2020-21 is being refunded for about 400 students. The school said it preferred not to discuss the fee amount.
School: We may consider online classes
As the mail went viral, parents started lauding the school’s initiative.
A school spokesperson said, “We are refunding the fees for children part of our preprimary programme (aged 5 and below). We will charge fees appropriately once there’s clarity. We may consider online classes as the situation evolves.”
“It’s our culture to share the Montessori philosophy with parents and we continue to do this through online workshops (free of charge) so that parents can engage their children fruitfully at home,” she added.
