In a first, containment zones decrease in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: For the first time, the number of containment zones in Gurgaon has decreased — from 106 to 104. According to the Unlock-2 guidelines issued by the district administration on Thursday, restrictions in containment zones will continue till July 31. However, the review committee will continue to de-notify areas following the guidelines. While there are no changes in Pataudi, Farrukh Nagar and Sohna block, three areas have been added and five areas have been removed from Gurgaon block.
The three areas added to the containment zones include Block A, Block B-1 (In South City-2), Tower number 3 (In Malibu Town Sector 47) and House no. 3,475wali lane (In Sector 23). The areas that have been de-notified as containment zones include Nitin Vihar; Lal building, Prem Market in Nathupur Kasan; Gali number 1 in front of DAV Public School in Sector 14; Laltu colony, Sonu House to Bahadur House, Shaitaan Colony in Behrampur village and Bharna Kuwa chowk, Shiv Dharamshala chowk and Ram Kishan chowk in Khandsa village.
Deputy commissioner Amit Khatri on Thursday said that the number of active cases have also reduced from 2,400 in the past two weeks to 1,300 this week. He attributed it to the cooperation of people in implementing the guidelines. He added that he is hopeful that the active cases will further reduce.
CMO Virender Yadav said that the recovery rate has improved and it is now over 75%. “Our testing capacity has also doubled. Earlier, we were testing around 600 people per day but now we are testing around 1,500 people daily. Around 2,030 people were tested on Wednesday. Moreover, we have introduced rapid antigen testing to cover maximum number of people. These efforts have contributed in containing virus spread and thus the number of containment zones has reduced,” he said.
