The bodies of Lallan Prasad Pandey alias Vimlesh Pandey (50), who runs a private clinic after obtaining a certificate from a medical practitioner, and three of his children identified as Prince Pandey (19), Shibu (19) and Somo (22) were found in a pool of blood in three separate rooms in the morning.
The assailants also injured the mother of three children identified as Usha Devi (45) who was admitted at SRN hospital for treatment. Her condition was stated to be critical.
The assailants had used sharp-edged weapons to stab or batter the four to death. Police suspect there were at least four to five intruders who managed to enter the house at midnight and escaped unchallenged. Although preliminary investigation hasn’t been able to determine the motive behind the gruesome murders, cops are not ruling out property dispute, old enmity and other reasons behind the killing.
ASP (Soraon) Ashok Venket K told TOI that “While bodies of the man and his son were lying in a room, bodies of two daughters were found lying in another room". He also added that the injured mother was lying in the veranda of the house.
Senior police officers, including ADG (Prayagraj zone) Prem Prakash, IG (Allahabad range) KP Singh and Allahabad SSP Abhishek Dixit, who inspected the crime scene said forensic experts had been pressed into service.
The ASP said neighbours discovered the killing when no one from the Pandey family came out of the house past 8.30am. “The main door was not locked from inside, which raised suspicions. On pushing the door open, villagers saw bloodstains. The bodies were in separate rooms. The woman (injured mother) was lying in the veranda but was not able to speak
Three police teams had been formed to crack the murder. “The motive is yet to be ascertained. We are probing every possible angle such as property dispute and old enmity. Valuables may also have not been stolen from the house,” added an official.
