Covid: Two more die, 561 test positive in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Two more persons died of Covid-19 in Odisha increasing the virus death toll in state to 29 even as 561 more tested positive for the virus on Friday. It is the largest ever single-day spike of positive cases in state, increasing total positive tally to 8,106.
"Regret to report the demise of two Covid positive cases. A 66-year-old male of Ganjam district, who was also a known case of hypertension. A 40-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes,” the health department twitted. This increases death toll in Ganjam district to 17.
According to the health department’s update on its Covid dash board, 283 of the new positive cases are from Ganjam alone, where the total positive cases mounted to 1,850. Among others, Cuttack reported 81 more and Rayagada district added 76 more positive cases.
More worryingly, 136 of the new positive persons are local cases not in quarantine centres.
