NEW DELHI:
Hyundai Motor India on Friday announced the debut of the ‘intelligent
Manual Transmission’ (
iMT) technology in its compact SUV,
Venue.
The
Hyundai Venue will now offer the convenience of 2-pedal clutch-less technology combined with its manual transmission gearbox. Hyundai aims to offer its customers enhanced control and a better driving experience with the new iMT technology.
Hyundai’s iMT technology features a transmission gear shift (
TGS) lever with an intention sensor, hydraulic actuator and transmission control unit (
TCU). The system has been designed to offer a seamless drive experience by incorporating a cohesive logic between the various components on manual transmissions.
Through the electromechanical operation of the clutch, iMT will offer drivers all the pleasures of driving a manual transmission. Further, the technology will empower customers with a more engaged drive experience by offering enhanced control over desired torque on wheels without compromising on fuel efficiency and performance.
The iMT technology will be rolled out this month in the Kappa 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol variant which comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.
“We have been continuously striving for customer delight with human centric technologies that present our innate understanding of what our customers’ desire. iMT is one such technology that accounts for pleasure of driving and also the convenience needed to ease the hectic burden of daily commutes,” said SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India.
