JIND: A woman from Jind town, a widow, has sought help to get her son’s body back to India from Malaysia. Her son had died of unknown reasons 12 days ago. Suman, resident of Vishwkarma Colony in Jind, urged the Malaysian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help her bring back the remains of her for his last rites.
Talking to TOI, Suman said, “My son Amit (30) had gone to Malaysia with the help of our neighbour Robin after spending Rs 2 lakh. My son never had sent money to us. He made a video call to us on June 19 and after that we could not contact him. A woman called my younger son on June 20 saying that Amit died. When I asked Robin, he replied that my son died of Covid-19 but when I told him that my son was sitting with his friends when he made a video call, Robin changed his statement. He said Amit died of a heart attack. Then he said he met with an accident. I visited the local police and local BJP MLA seeking action but in vain.”
She said Robin was demanding Rs 95,000 to bring her son’s body back. “I am helpless, so I sought help from the Indian government,” she said.
Jind MLA Krishan Middha said, “I will raise the issue before the administration or the official concerned. The main issue is to bring back the body now.”
Jind deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Ashvin Shenvi said, “I have deputed DSP Dharmbir Kharb to look into the matter and we will provide all possible help to the family of the deceased.”
