It's almost a cliche to call Toyota's 86 "underrated," but the nimble sports car doesn't really get the respect it deserves -- especially now that it lives in the shadow of the new Toyota Supra.
The Hakone Edition adds a bit of visual polish to this diamond in the rough, coating the sheetmetal in gorgeous Hakone Green paint and filling the arches with bronze 17-inch wheels.
This example was outfitted with the optional automatic transmission. It's not the worst slushbox I've had to use, but the 86 is best experienced with a stick shift.
Unfortunately, the echoes of Scion have left the 86 with extremely basic cabin tech. This rear camera tucked into the mirror, for example, is downright terrible.
