Mumbai: Ministers from
Congress and the
Nationalist Congress Party, allies of the Shiv Sena-led coalition in Maharashtra, were miffed that they were not taken into confidence when chief minister Uddhav Thackeray initiated the latest lockdown measures in
Mumbai and the neighbouring districts.
On Thursday,
NCP chief Sharad Pawar held a meeting with home minister
Anil Deshmukh and the unilateral manner in which the restrictions have been imposed had apparently come up in the meeting between the two. NCP and Congress ministers believe that they are not being taken in to confidence before initiating such lockdown measures which they believe is utenable. Pawar is likely to hold a meeting with Thackeray soon to discuss the issues. On Thursday evening deputy CM Ajit Pawar met with Uddhav and held a long meeting with him on the issue of relaxations during the lockdown.
The NCP chief was also been approached by several businessmen who have complained that the prolonged lockdown was leading to an economic crisis.
