Representative imageLUCKNOW: Two men and a woman allegedly ended their lives in different parts of the city in a span of 24 hours on Wednesday.
In Para’s Tejikheda locality, a woman, Sunita (40), was found hanging at her home on Wednesday morning. Police said local residents spotted Sunita hanging and the news reached her landlord Krishna Upadhayay, who lives in Sarojininagar. Upadhyay reached the spot the later informed the police.
Police said Sunita was found hanging from an iron rod over which a tin shed was placed and with a dupatta tied around her neck. She was married to one Ashok and the couple had three children. Police are yet to find out why she might have taken the extreme step.
In Mahanagar, a BCom (III) student Shashikant Bharti was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a sari in Nai Basti areas of Rahimnagar locality on Wednesday morning. Police have sent the body for autopsy.
Police spokesman Anand Shukla said, “The 20-year-old was found hanging in a room on the top floor of his house. Subinspector Parvez Ahmad will be investigating the case. The family is in a state of shock and the police are trying to ascertain why Bharti might have ended his life.”
In Hasanganj, a 27-yearold garment shop owner Paropkar Singh alias Aman was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a bedsheet tied around his neck. Police said Aman lived in Niralanagar and owned a garment shop in Hazratganj’s Janpath Market.
“His family members saw him hanging from the fan through the grille of the window in his room. Aman was unmarried. Sub-inspector Ravindra Kumar will be investigating the case,” said Shukla. He added that the incident came to light around 10.30am on Wednesday.
