Pune: Information Technology (IT) companies in and around the city have asked their employees to work from home for the next six months. The companies have observed that the productivity of employees has not been affected due to work from home and on the other side, the COVID-19 situation is still evolving. Hence most companies have decided to continue the work from a home model and save cost by giving up their rented offices.

Almost 70 per cent of the employees of several IT companies in and around Pune are working from home. The central and state government has allowed only 33 per cent staff to work from the office.  Dinesh Subhedar, a senior officer from a multinational company said, “We have been asked to continue work from home for at least the next two months.”

Ajit Gokhale, Senior Vice President of Mobi and Digital Company said, “The productivity of employees has remained the same even if they are working from home. So we have decided to extend this facility for employees.”

Software Developer Kedar Deo said, “Due to the Covid-19 situation we are asked to work from home. This situation would remain for at least the next two to three months. We have got used to the new normal of working from home. Initially, there were some problems but now work from home is going good.”

Presently international flights are not operational. So employees cannot travel out of the country for any project. Companies are finding ways to commence on-site work through some modern technological options.
