VaikoCHENNAI: MDMK chief Vaiko on Thursday urged the Centre to provide financial support to the apparel industry in Tamil Nadu.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vaiko highlighted the problems the industry faces due to the lockdown.
He urged the Prime Minister to amend eligibility criteria for applying under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) with no annual turnover limit for apparel exporters. Currently the turnover limit is Rs 100 crore.
He added, “The eligibility criteria for all business enterprises/MSME borrower accounts with combined outstanding loans of up to Rs 25 crore, as on February 29, should be amended and enhanced to Rs 100 crore.”
“The industry is indeed deeply obliged for the steps taken to facilitate it, and I look forward to the proposed amendment to provide support to the borrowing units,” he stated.
