A CBI investigation has started in the case of brokerage from Korea engineering company Samsung Engineering to buy Robert Vadra's benami property in London. In the FIR registered in this regard, the CBI has accused Sanjay Bhandari, a defense deal broker.

According to CBI, ONGC Petro Additions Ltd (Opel), a subsidiary of ONGC, was charged $ 49.99 lakh (Rs 23.50 crore at the then exchange rate) in exchange for contracting a project in Dahej, Gujarat. Dainik Jagran published the news of this scam in detail on 12 March 2019.

According to highly placed sources, the Income Tax Department and the ED had handed over documents of the scam to the CBI early last year, registering an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act and needing to investigate it. Based on this, the CBI registered a case for preliminary inquiry on 11 July 2019. After almost a year of preliminary investigation, CBI decided to register a regular FIR. It has accused Sanjay Bhandari and Samsung Engineering Senior Manager Hong Naimkung as well as unknown officials of ONCG and Opel.

According to the ED, about 45 lakh rupees were spent on the repair of this property. The ED has long questioned Robert Vadra in this regard. If the ED and Income Tax officials are to be believed, they have strong evidence of it being the benami property of Robert Vadra.
