Maharashtra Mumbai lockdown coronavirus news Live Updates, Pune COVID19 cases: Maharashtra government has enforced 10-day complete lockdown in Thane, Kalyan, and Mira Bhayandar apart from imposing Section 144 in capital Mumbai. Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC), the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), and Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation come under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The authorities have jointly decided to enforce complete lockdown for the next 10 days to check the spread of coronavirus cases in these regions. However, essential services and medical emergencies have been exempted from strict lockdown. Inter-city buses, autorickshaws, and taxis will not be allowed to operate in these civic limits, officials are quoted as saying by PTI.

Bombay High Court has directed the Maharashtra government to conduct random coronavirus tests of prisoners. The Prison authorities have been asked to test any inmates who are showing any coronavirus symptoms.

Coronavirus COVID-19 treatment in Maharashtra

State Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that plasma therapy is a very effective way of treatment and claimed that 9 out of 10 patients are recovering after receiving this treatment. A total of 93,000 coronavirus patients have recovered so far, Tope has said. Apart from plasma therapy, both the coronavirus medicines, Remdesivir, and Favipiravir will be available in all the districts in the upcoming 2 days. The minister has assured that the government will ensure that the medicine is not available for rich and influential people only.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has asserted that there is no community spread in Thane. “Most of the cases which are coming positive are of the people who are either under institutional quarantine, home quarantine or with some contact history. So, there’s no community spread in the state as of now,” the State Minister said.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Vijay Wadettiwar has claimed that the state government had not received any funds from the central government. Wadettiwar has asserted that “there is no cash crunch for handling COVID-19 situation in the state.” “Situation of the state is such that we will have to take a loan to pay next month’s salaries of government employees. Except for 3-4 departments, expenses have been cut in other departments,” the state Minister was quoted as saying by ANI.

Maharashtra continues to remain India’s worst-affected state. Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have increased by 5,537 in the last 24 hours taking the total COVID-19 tally to 1.8 lakh. The state has also recorded 198 COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday taking the death toll to 8,000. Mumbai has recorded 1,487 new coronavirus cases and 73 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours. The total COVID-19 cases tally in Mumbai now stands at 79,145 and the death toll is 4,631. Meanwhile, India has recorded 19,148 new coronavirus cases and 434 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, total coronavirus cases in the country have crossed 6 lakh-mark and now stand at 6,04,641 including 2,26,947 active cases, 3,59,860 cured or discharged, or migrated. The death toll in India is 17834, as per data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Till July 1, the total number of samples tested for Coronavirus is 90,56,173. Out of this, 2,29,588 samples were tested on Wednesday, as per details shared by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

In Maharashtra, Pune has recorded 27 deaths, Jalgaon 8, Thane 5, Mira Bhayander 3, Jalna 3, Osmanabad 2, Latur 1, Akola 1, Sindhudurg 1, Pimpri-Chinchwad 1, Dhule 1, Vasai-Virar 1, and Kalyan 1. Maharashtra’s fatality rate stands at 4.47 per cent. Mumbai has a higher death rate of 5.8 per cent.

A total of 363 inmates and 102 jail staff have tested Coronavirus positive so far. Four inmates have died due to COVID-19. Total of 255 inmates and 82 jail staff have recovered so far. Mumbai Central Prison has reported maximum positive cases with 181 inmates 44 Jail staff positive, Maharashtra Prison Department was quoted as saying by ANI.

As per the Section-144 protocol announced by the Commissioner of Police Pranaya Ashok, any presence or movement of one or more persons in public places or gathering of any sort anywhere, including religious places subject to certain conditions, is prohibited. Religious places do come under the ambit of the Section-144 protocol. The prohibitory order will remain effective until July 15. Earlier, Mumbai police have asked people not to venture out with their private vehicles outside of 2 kilometre from their residences. Office goers and people out for emergency services were exempted. City authorities have already announced people found without masks will be slapped a hefty fine of Rs 1000.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a nine-point protocol for hospitals in Mumbai with an aim to reduce coronavirus related deaths. This is part of its ‘Save Lives Strategy’. Maharashtra has recorded 4,878 coronavirus cases pushing its coronavirus cases tally to 1,74,761. Mumbai recorded 893 new coronavirus cases and the COVID 19 tally stands at 77,658-mark.

Coronavirus continues to infect Maharashtra police jawans. 77 police personnel have been found positive for COVID-19 and one has died in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of Coronavirus active cases to 1,015 and COVID-19 death toll to 60 in the force, Maharashtra Police was quoted as saying by ANI.
