AHMEDABAD: In the past one week,
Gujarat recorded six highest daily cases – and on Thursday, the state recorded the latest high with 681 cases – seven cases recorded every 15 minutes – in 24 hours ending 5 pm. With the update, the state now has 33,999 total Covid-19 positive cases.
Gujarat recorded deaths of 19 Covid-19 positive patients in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1888. Ahmedabad recorded seven deaths – which were the lowest in 66 days. On April 27, Ahmedabad had recorded five deaths. A total of four patients succumbed to Covid-19 in Surat, two from Vadodara and one each from Junagadh, Mehsana, Patan, Kheda, Valsad and Surendranagar.
With the update, the state now has 22.1% (7510) active patients whereas the percentage of discharged and deceased patients is 72.3% and 5.6% respectively.
It was the sixth consecutive day of 600-plus daily cases for Gujarat. Analysis of the numbers reveals that in the past seven days, Gujarat has recorded 4,421 Covid-19 positive cases – the figure is 100 more than the tally of the entire April month (4,321).
Gujarat recorded discharge of 563 patients, taking the total to 24,601. The discharged patients include 205 from Surat, 161 from Ahmedabad, 103 from Vadodara and 14 from Junagadh
Gujarat carried out record 8,025 tests in 24 hours, taking the number of total tests to 3.88 lakh. As on Thursday evening, Gujarat has 2.51 lakh persons under quarantine out of which 2.48 lakh are under home quarantine.
