90-year-old man, 82-year-old wife from Koderma oldest Covid patients in state

Koderma: A 90-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife from the district became arguably the oldest couple in the state to test positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Koderma civil surgeon Dr Parvati Nag said, “The couple is from Domchanch and so far, they are the oldest couple to have tested positive for Covid-19 on TruNat.”
The couple is maternal uncle and aunt of the 45-year-old medical shop owner, who has no travel history and tested positive on Sunday night, said Dr Abhay Bhushan Prasad, the nodal officer of Holy Family, a Covid-19 designated hospital in Koderma. They were put under home quarantine since Sunday after their nephew tested positive.
He said, “The couple is symptomatic and they have high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiac illnesses. Keeping in view their underlying health conditions, they have been shifted to Rims in Ranchi on Tuesday. Their nephew is also diabetic.”
The district administration and the health teams were also conducting contact-tracing of the three patients. Initially, 25 persons, including the elderly couple, were identified as primary contacts and were quarantined.
Officials said that swab samples of seven persons were collected on Monday and two tested positive. On Tuesday, samples of 18 more persons were taken for tests.
