State sees spike of 72 new COVID cases in a single day

Panaji: The state recorded 72 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday. As many as 24 of the 72 new cases are from Zuarinagar, 21 from Kharewada, while 11 positive cases were recorded at Ambelim.

As per the bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, the new cases also included of nine people who arrived in the state by road, rail and air, six from New Vaddem, Vasco, four cases each from Baina and Sankhali.

Three new cases were detected at Verna. One isolated case each was reported at Camrabhat in Taleigao and Borim in Shiroda.

One case each was reported at Headland Sada and Quepem.

Around 74 COVID patients have recovered from the dreaded disease in the last 24 hours.

With the new cases and the recoveries, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa stand at 1,387 of which 713 are active, while 670 patients have defeated the deadly virus.

The state has witnessed four COVID deaths.

According to the DHS, the 713 active cases include 116 persons, who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air; 253 residents of Mangor Hill, while 194 cases are linked to the containment zone in Vasco.

In the other locations of the active cases are Curtorim (17), Margao (8), Ambelim (34), Quepem (7), Loutolim (11), Indiranagar Chimbel (10), Navelim (2), Ganganagar Mapusa (6), Sankhali (31), Sal Bicholim (4), Canacona (6), Nachinola (1), Porvorim (2), Vaddem Vasco (1), Kundaim (1), Verna (4), Pilar (1), Sanguem (1), Pirna Mapusa (1).

The major locations from where cases are surfacing include Zuarinagar (48), Kharewada (21) New Vaddem (35), Morlem (22), Baina (45), Chimbel (27), Headland Sada (63) and Curtorim (31).
