One of the fastest-rising actors in Bollywood right now, Taapsee Pannu was counted as the highest grossing female actor in the industry over the past year. Always seen portraying strong, groundbreaking women in movies that challenge conventional social norms, some of Pannu's most memorable performances have been in the thriller Badla alongside Amitabh Bachchan, the drama Saand Ki Aankh with Bhumi Pednekar, and most recently, in social drama Thappad. Just like her roles on the silver screen, Pannu’s knack to make things her own extends to her home, a two-BHK space in Mumbai’s Andheri suburb that she shares with her sister, Shagun Pannu.

Pannu moved to her new home two years ago, while shooting for her 2018 rom-com Manmarziyan, and shared the memory with her fans in a heartfelt Instagram post saying, “That’s the blue door that I wanted for my home and keeping the ambition flying high I always wanted a logo instead of a name plate outside my house. Seeing it all come together for the first time was definitely a defining moment in a girl’s life who wanted to create her own space which she can look at everytime she sets an ambitious goal and feel ‘it’s possible’.”

With its wooden furnishings, pastel palette and European accents, “shabby chic” describes the aesthetic of Pannu’s home well, reminiscent of the brief Jacqueline Fernandez had given her interior designer for her own home. From Pannu’s go-to spot to her prized wall full of knick-knacks, take a tour through the actor’s cosy residence in Mumbai.

Step inside Taapsee Pannu’s eclectic living room

“Both me and my sister have been huge fans of European decor. We used to love visiting old, quaint cities. It used to be so cosy and nice to sit there and have a cup of coffee,” Pannu revealed in an interview. And it's clear that her cosy living room echoes the aesthetic of many European cafés. A blue-grey L-shaped couch topped with quirky cushions sits centre stage in the actor's apartment. An old-school glass chandelier above the setting infuses the room with warmth. Vintage floral patterns feature often in the space, be it on the drapes of the adjacent floor-to-ceiling windows, or the upholstered stool chair facing the couch. “I actually like to have people over, because if you’ve spent so much effort and time in making your house, you might as well show off,” the actor shares.

Unsurprisingly, this little haven is Taapsee Pannu’s favourite corner at home, and is the spot where she likes to begin each day with a cup of coffee and a meditation session. Overlooking the Mumbai skyline, the actor's balcony also often doubles up as her makeshift yoga studio. One wall here features a melange of trinkets, from lush potted plants to colourful framed prints and vintage posters. The other side features custom-made wooden pieces (think earthy pots, animal carvings, wall hangings and a Buddha statue). A wooden swing also suspends from the ceiling, serving as a perfect spot for the actor to curl up with a book. Pannu calls this space “my little forest.”

In vein with the personalised appeal of Taapsee Pannu’s home, one wall in the living room displays memorabilia from the Pannu sisters' many travels across the globe. Feel-good quotes, popping colours, and quirky tidbits add a playful element to this corner. “This is a wall that we thought we’d make into a gallery which will have elements that represent us and that we resonate with,” the actor elaborated in an interview.

In the same space sits another statement wall, a white brick backdrop featuring an oversized black clock, which Pannu likes to describe as the “USP of my house.” Why? “Because if you don’t value time, time will not value you.” On one side of this conversation-starter piece stands the actor's workstation, which comprises a white and blue floral desk and chair, carved in a Victorian style. On the other side of the giant clock is a set of colonial doors with summery floral drapes, forming another interesting backdrop for the actor’s OOTD photographs.

Located next to the balcony is Taapsee Pannu’s coffee bar, which features a sleek black coffee machine that allows the star to experiment with different varieties of brews and blends using beans sourced from around the world. Right next to the star's coffee corner sits her marble dining table, which stands out for its selection of dining chairs in cool shades of powder blue, baby pink and soft yellow. A white showcase off to one side holds crockery, and an edgy black light fixture adds an element of surprise to the spot.
