Why You Won't Find The Best New Subaru Models On The 4th Of July Weekend

If you are shopping for a new 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, or Ascent this 4th of July weekend you could be disappointed. Subaru retailers are very low on inventory right now for two reasons. They have been offering no-interest financing on 2020 Forester, Outback, Ascent Impreza, and Legacy models and retailers moved many popular models off their lots.

Subaru also had its two plants closed for eight weeks and the production loss was around 150,000 vehicles. This created a severe shortage of all-wheel-drive Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and Ascent SUVs as Subaru of America does keep inventory levels low even before the plants were shut down.

Does Subaru still offer 0% financing?

Subaru of America has extended no-interest financing through July 31, 2020, for customers. Torque News contacted one large Subaru retailer west of Denver, Colorado and our source told us they have less than 100 new Subaru vehicles on its lot, and “inventory is dwindling quickly.” They usually have close to 400 new cars available for customers.

The source told us new vehicles are “trickling in sporadically” as all retailers are trying to get their hands on the new 2020 Forester compact SUV, Outback wagon, Crosstrek subcompact SUV, and Ascent 3-Row family hauler for customers.

2020 Subaru Forester, Crosstrek, WRX, WRX STI, and BRZ are all manufactured in Gunma Japan and it will be harder to find the model you want. 2020 Subaru Outback wagon, Ascent, Impreza, and Legacy are all made in Lafayette, Indiana, and should be arriving sooner.

Does Subaru negotiate the price?

It’s a good time to buy, as Subaru of America is offering incentives for customers. According to Automotive News, the average Subaru incentive or customer rebate per car is just $1,017. Keep in mind, Subaru does not allow its retailers to advertise prices below the invoice due to strict advertising rules.

It’s best to cross-shop different Subaru retailers in your area to get the best deal and possibly find the model you want. With inventory so low, you could get a very good deal on a 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek or Ascent SUV this 4th of July weekend if you are willing to buy a different color or trim level than what you might want.
