YAMUNANAGAR: The Yamunanagar police registered a case of murder after a man has been shot dead by three bike-borne miscreants at Mandhar village under limits of Chappar police station on Wednesday late evening, told the police.
The deceased has been identified as Gurwinder Singh (47) of Mandhar village who was allegedly shot three-four times in his head and chest.
Gurwinder was rushed to a private hospital in Jagadhri by his relatives where the doctors declared him dead.
On receiving the information, the Yamunanagar police reached the spot at Mandhar village along with the scene of crime team and collected the evidence from there.
Yamunanagar deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Shamsher Singh told a special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate this case.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of Gurwinder’s brother-in-law Jaswinder Singh, a case has been registered against three unknown accused under Section 34 (common intention) and 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-54-59 (punishment for certain offences and renewal of licenses) of the Arms Act at Chappar police station on Tuesday at 11.30 pm.
Jaswinder of Mandhar village stated to the police, “My sister was married to Gurwinder Singh of Mandhar village who were living in a rented accommodation at Ansal Town, Jagadhri from around one year. Mostly, my sister lived with my father Ranjit Singh at Mandhar village and whenever Gurwinder used to come she usually went with him to their home in our village. On Tuesday at around 7.30pm, Gurwinder came to our home to take keys of his house and I along with my son (7) went with him. When we opened the lock of their house, my son started to ask for something to eat from the shop.
Gurwinder took him along to a nearby shop and I stayed back at his home. At around 8 pm, when Gurwinder was returning from the shop, three bike-borne miscreants came there and started firing at him. He attempted to save himself and enter a nearby shop but the miscreants fired 3-4 bullets in his head and fled the spot. We rushed him to a private hospital in Jagadhri, where the doctors declared him dead.”
DSP Shamsher said, “We have registered a case against three unknowns as the family so far has not named anyone or did not raise any suspicion. As of now, the reason behind this murder is not clear and the matter is being investigated. The dead body of deceased Gurwinder has been handed over to his family members after the post-mortem at the civil hospital, Jagadhri.”
"We have constituted an SIT of CIA-I, CIA-II and Chappar police station to investigate and arrest the miscreants involved in this case at the earliest", added DSP Shamsher.
