New Delhi: Sanjay Dwivedi was on Wednesday appointed the director general of
the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. At present, Dwivedi is the registrar of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication in Bhopal.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Dwivedi's appointment as the DG, IIMC, on direct recruitment basis for a period of three years, stated the order.
According to the I&B ministry sources, Dwivedi’s name was shortlisted along with Kanchan Malik from University of Hyderabad and Shaheed Rasool from University of J&K by a select panel comprising Kanchan Gupta and Ashok Tandon, ANI CEO Sanjeev Prakash and I&B secretary Amit Khare.
The RSS had strongly backed Dwivedi's candidature and was waiting for the Congress government to fall in Madhya Pradesh so that the “politically-motivated FIRs” against him could be quashed.
