A breathalyser test found Chugg, who had his 17-year-old son in the car with him at the time, had a blood alcohol level of 0.09.

Chugg told the officers he had several drinks and little food because it was his wedding day.

Defence lawyer Bianca Wierland said her client was driving that day because his son had asked to get food from McDonald's, Noosa News reports.

Ms Wierland added that Chugg was a former professional cricketer in Victoria and had moved to Queensland to be closer to family.

He was fined $800 and was disqualified from driving for a month.

No conviction was recorded.
