BOSTON — Travelers arriving to Massachusetts, including residents returning home, are instructed to self quarantine for 14 days, except for travelers from some states.

The order goes into effect Friday, but does not include travelers arriving in the Bay State from New England, New Jersey and New York -- states that have seen a significant decline in COVID-19 cases.

Workers designated by the federal government as essential critical infrastructure workers are exempt from the directive to self-quarantine if traveling to Massachusetts for work purposes.

On Monday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 35 new COVID-19-related deaths across the state, bringing the state's total to 8,095.

In addition, state health officials reported 101 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 108,768.
