Man dies after being shot in the leg at Sydney home

Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot dead in Sydney's west early on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to the home in Wentworthville just before 8pm on Monday following reports of a shooting.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man, believed to be in his 40s, for a gunshot wound to his leg.

Despite their best efforts, the man died at the scene, police said.

A crime scene was established and detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
