Goa sees 64 new COVID cases

Panaji: The state recorded 64 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday. Around 72 COVID patients have recovered from the dreaded disease in the last 24 hours. With the new cases and the recoveries, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa stand at 1,315 of which 716 are active, while 596 patients have defeated the deadly virus.

The state has witnessed three COVID deaths.

As per the bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, as many as seven of the 64 new cases are from Ambelim, five from Indiranagar Chimbel and three case from Sankhali.

The fresh cases also include one each from Porvorim and Bicholim while one isolated case each has been detected at Pirna in Mapusa and Sanguem. 

According to the DHS, the 716 active cases include 107 persons, who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air; 255 residents of Mangor Hill, while 217 cases are linked to the containment zone in Vasco.

The major locations from where cases are surfacing include Zuarinagar (24) New Vaddem (29), Morlem (22), Baina (41), Chimbel (27), Headland Sada (62) and Curtorim (31).
