Heavy rains in northeast India have disrupted life. The flood situation in Assam reached a more critical condition on Monday. 25 out of 33 districts of Assam were hit by floods on Monday and so far 22 people have died due to floods. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) gave this information.
According to the authority, two people died in Dibrugarh and one each in Barpeta and Gwalpara districts. Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Udalgiri, Chirang, Darrang, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Gwalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Hojai, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Western Karbi Anglong district has been hit by floods.
Barpeta has been the worst hit with more than three lakh people affected. 1.95 lakh in South Salmara, 1.17 lakh in Nalbari, and one lakh people in Morigaon and Dhemaji districts are suffering from floods. The Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger mark in many places. Its tributaries are also in spate.
About 9.3 lakh people affected by floods in Assam
Earlier, it was reported that about 9.3 lakh people were affected in 23 districts due to floods in Assam. The ASDMA said that Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Udalguri, Darrang, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Golpada, Kamrup, Morigaon, Hojai, Naugaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, and Dibrugarh More than 9.26 lakh people have been affected due to floods in Karbi Anglong districts.
