Everywhere you go today there is a sign on the door, or a placard before the door, saying masks must be worn. Signs also explain the importance of keeping a six-foot distance between customers. This is for our safety, to not be infected by the people who may be carrying the COVID-19 virus.

In Fall River, the big box stores and supermarkets are doing a fantastic job with the social distancing and one-way travel aisles within the stores. But it seems there are still people who won't wear the masks at all. Also there are people who won't wear the masks correctly. The proper way is to wear the mask covering your nose and your mouth. Some people wear the mask covering their mouth but not their nose. This defeats the purpose of even wearing the mask.

We are all in this together, we all need to do our part keeping our distance, wearing a mask properly, stay home as much as practical and stay away from large get together more than ten.

I sympathize with businesses that are closed because of the pandemic, or working at a reduced capacity. The best we can do is cooperate with our leaders. Locally, Massachusetts and Rhode Island governors Baker and Raimondo have made good judgment decisions. And, as for President Trump, he was too slow at acting on the coronavirus right from the onset. Trump was also terribly wrong stating that we need to open America, leading to some governors giving the OK to opening businesses in their states way too early. Now these governors are forced to close their states for a second time.

It's unfortunate there are some people who do not believe the seriousness of this pandemic. Remember we are all in this together. We need to look out for each other. Remember the power of prayer. We can, and we will survive.
