3 new COVID cases in Sankhali

Sankhali: Health officer of the Sankhali community health centre Dr Uttam Desai on Tuesday said that three more people from the town tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic, taking the total number of positive cases to 29.

Moreover a person from Sarvan in Bicholim taluka also tested positive for the virus, recording the total number of COVID cases in the taluka to 34.

The three new COVID cases have been reported in Desai Nagar, Sundarpeth and Rudreshwar Colony of Sankhali.

Some 75 people underwent the COVID test at the   hospital on Tuesday and 77 at Desai Nagar, whose test reports will be released on Wednesday. Strict restrictions have been adopted in the localities, which saw the new cases.  

The authorities continued handing out basic commodities to the people. It is understood that one of the COVID positive persons is an agent working in the Bicholim transport office, which forced the staffers to undergo the COVID test.

The RTO office is usually crowded by people, who are not maintaining the social distancing norm.
