VIJAYAWADA: In a horrific incident, a physically-challenged woman was thrashed by tourism deputy manager at the APTDC office premises in Nellore town on Tuesday. The incident was caught on camera. The official was later arrested by the police.
According to tourism officials, the victim identified as CH Usha Rani, senior assistant merely appealed deputy manager C Bhaskar to wear a mask as per the protocol. Infuriated that a lower-rank colleague had ordered him, Bhaskar in a fit of rage brutally attacked Usha.
The video shows him dragging the woman by her hair to the floor and thrashing her with a wooden stick leaving her grievously injured. The security footage was leaked on social media and soon went viral eliciting wide-spread condemnation.
Meanwhile, Usha had lodged a complaint with the Nellore police who registered an assault case against him.
On the other hand, managing director APTDC Pravin Kumar was quick to suspend Bhaskar and formed an inquiry committee to take further disciplinary action against him.
