'A pretty cold start': City shivers through one of the coldest mornings of the year
Melburnians have shivered through one of the coldest mornings of the year so far, with some suburbs recording sub-zero temperatures.
Frost blanketed parts of the city as the mercury slumped to 2.2 degrees at around 7am in Melbourne - but according to the weather bureau, it felt more like 1.3 degrees. Sunday also marked the coldest day of the year so far with a low of 1.7 degrees in Melbourne.

However, the string of bone-numbingly cold mornings that have marked the beginning of the winter school holidays are set to change into sunshine-filled afternoons this week.
"It was a pretty cold start to the day, but it should be beautiful and sunny later on once fog in some areas lifts," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Christie Johnson said.
She said many Victorians across the state would have seen to frost in the morning for the second day in a row.
"It doesn't even need to get quite to zero to be frosty," said Ms Johnson.
Coldstream, Avalon, Scoresby and Viewbank all had overnight lows below zero.
Around the state temperatures plummeted early Monday morning, with Ballarat recording -2.1 degrees at 7.28am, Kyabram dropped to -1.9 derees at 6.36am and Horsham hitting a low of -0.8 degrees at 5am.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are all forecast to be filled with sunshine.
However, Ms Johnson said a rain front moving through on Thursday would end the run of sunny weather.
"We'll start to see showers up ticking around Thursday," she said.
