People are feared killed in an ongoing gunbattle after the Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi came under attack from terrorists, Geo News reported.
Four militants stormed the exchange and opened indiscriminate fire.
Initial reports said that four attackers came out of their vehicle and threw grenades after which they reportedly entered the building, Dawn reported. Police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi said that five bodies and seven injured, including policemen, have been brought at the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.
According to the report, all four terrorists have been killed and weapons, hand grenades have been recovered from the attackers. A clearance operation is underway in the exchange.
Abid Ali Habib, Director Pakistan Stock Exchange, told Geo News: "An unfortunate incident took place at the Pakistan Stock Exchange. They (terrorists) made their way from our parking area and opened fire on everyone."
"Strongly condemn the attack on PSX aimed at tarnishing our relentless war on terror. Have instructed the IG & security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are caught alive & their handlers are accorded exemplary punishments. We shall protect Sindh at all costs," Imran Ismail, Governor, Sindh tweeted.
