Kailash Parmar with his childrenMUMBAI: Depressed after his wife walked out of the house nearly 45 days ago, a 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after killing his three minor children at Nalasopara on Saturday. No suicide note has been found.
The murder-suicide was discovered around 8.30 pm when the deceased man's father went to check on him. On not getting a response, he along with the neighbours broke open the door and found the bodies of Kailash Parmar and his children Nayan (12), Nandini (8) and Nayana (3). The children had slash wounds on their neck. Tuling police have seized a knife with blood stains from the family's rented room at Don Lane, Babulpada, Nalasopara (east).
Kailash is suspected to have killed the children when they were asleep as neighbours have said they did not hear anything. The bodies have been sent for autopsy to check if the children were sedated.
Kailash's father, Viju, who lives nearby has told police he had knocked on Kailash's door around 4 pm asking him to come home for tea. However, Kailash told his father the children were asleep and he would come later.
Viju told the police Kailash was depressed after his daughter-in-law, Manita, left them and went to live with her parents. The couple sold garlic for a living. Viju indicated domestic disputes between the couple had worsened during the lockdown. Recently, Kailash saw photographs of Manita with another man on social media and that, perhaps, worsened things. Kailash's cellphone has been seized for leads.
