GREATER NOIDA: A 57-year-old head constable of Noida police, who was posted in the court of chief judicial magistrate in Surajpur as a clerk, died of
Covid at a private hospital on Saturday. Netrapal Singh is the first
coronavirus casualty in the
police department. So far, 28 cops have tested positive in Noida, of which 24 have already recovered.
Ankur Aggarwal, additional DCP (central zone), said that Singh seemed to have ignored his symptoms initially. “He had first gone to Kailash Hospital in Noida on June 23 with fever. The doctors there tested him for Covid and his result came positive on June 25, following which we shifted him to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida as the Noida hospital was not treating Covid patients.”
However, by that time, Singh’s oxygen level had come down significantly due to which, he was immediately transferred to the ICU of Sharda Hospital. “But after being put on the ventilator for about 6-7 hours due to breathing trouble, Singh succumbed to Covid around 5am on Saturday. Contact tracing will be done,” Aggarwal said.
