Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in Chennai, Tamil Nadu government has announced a further 12-day 'complete lockdown' in the state capital and certain parts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts between June 19 and 30.

Based on a request from the state government, Southern Railway has from June 29 cancelled Trichy-Chengalpet-Trichy (via Vriddhachalam), Trichy-Chengalpet-Trichy (via Mayiladuthurai), Arakkonam-Coimbatore-Arakkonam, Madurai-Villupuram-Madurai, Coimbatore-Katpadi-Coimbatore, Coimbatore-Mayiladuthurai-Coimbatore, and Trichy-Nagercoil-Trichy daily special trains that were being operated as part of resuming services.
