Domestic stocks shrugged off many negative developments last week and danced largely to the tune of global cues. Technical analysts said the indices might be close to their near-term peaks. Fundamental analysts too are not happy with the rally, saying it is not backed by earnings.

Data showed the BSE Sensex jumped 439.54 points or 1.27 per cent to close at 35,171.27 for the week. The NSE Nifty rose 138.60 or 1.35 per cent to 10,383.00 during the same period amid hopes demand will revive sooner than later.
