Kia e-Niro Range Expanded With New 134 HP Entry-Level Model

Kia has made the e-Niro range more affordable in the United Kingdom with the introduction of a new base variant.

Available from £29,595 (equal to $36,755) with the Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG) included, it’s offered strictly on the ‘2’ grade with the 39 kWh battery pack.

When fully charged, it offers a driving range of up to 180 miles (290 km) and powers a 134 HP (136 PS / 100 kW) and 291 lb-ft (395 Nm) electric motor. It needs 9.5 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) and has a 96 mph (155 km/h) top speed.

Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, a matte black radiator grille, black side sills and wheel arch body moldings, chrome-coated door handles, a 7-inch TFT color display cluster, power driver’s seat, cloth and leather upholstery, glossy black trim, automatic air-con, 8-inch infotainment system with smartphone integration and several safety systems.

Offered with the 64 kWh lithium-ion battery and a higher output electric motor that makes 201 HP (204 PS / 150 kW) and 291 lb-ft (395 lb-ft), the mid- and top-spec ‘3’ and ‘4+’ can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.5 seconds and top out at 104 mph (167 km/h). These versions of the e-Niro can travel for more than 282 miles (454 km) on a single charge and add extra gear.

The ‘3’ comes with the 10.25-inch touchscreen display with sat-nav, dedicated UVO smartphone app with remote access to certain vehicle functions, black full leather upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless charging pad for compatible devices and aluminum door scuff plates from £33,850 ($42,040), including the PiCG.

The top-of-the-line ‘4+’ starts at £36,145 ($44,890) and adds the AC 11 kW three-phase charger, LED headlights, power sunroof, memory function for the driver’s seat and side mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, JBL sound system and intelligent speed warning.
