Coronavirus: Pune records highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases

Pune city reported a total of 822 new positivve test results of COVID-19 on Saturday while 19 people succumbed to death due the contagion.

There just doesn't seem to be an end to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. As far as Pune which is an epicentre of the novel coronavirus is concerned, the city reported a total of 822 new positive test results of COVID-19 on Saturday. 19 people succumbed to death due the contagion.

The death rate in patients of an older age remains one of the hardest obstacle to battle. Deaths of some senior citizens from Naidu Infectious Diseases Hospital, Symbiosis Hospital, KEM Hospital, Bharati Hospital, Ruby Hall Clinic,  Sassoon Hospital were some of the latest ones to affect the total.

Pune district crossed the 1,000 mark with 822 new cases in PMC (Pune Municipal Corporation), followed by 128 in PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation), 36 in rural with 18 in cantonment area.

The new cases of the contagion are now been reported from the areas which were declared as Green Zones once. With more cases reported from outside containment zones, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking steps to bring down the numbers.

A day after Pune Municipal Corporation announced the mandatory use of masks, over 20 people were found violating the rule. The people who didn't wore the masks were fined to the tune of Rs 500 as decided in advisort to the directives by the state and central governments.
